Confront The Scourge

Yet, we turn aside and ignore, the pervasive and awful signs,

Strewn amid the societal fabric, of the callous oppression

Of others in camouflage in plain sight as bullying . . .

In whatever form it rears its despicable countenance, whether within the

Seemingly innocent corridors of schools where children should carefree learn,

In the workplace where one seeks advancing livelihood in earnest regard,

On the roads, where errors in judgement cause volcanic eruptions of sometimes

Fatal rage, through the media where the appearance of some is so often

Mercilessly ridiculed with triviality . . .  be it for sex, gender, persuasion, height,

Skin colour, weight, ethnicity, accent or whatever poorly contrived excuse.

These acts, in essence are a blight on our community of civil humanity, for they,

Assume outright dastardly brutality, often with dire and desperate consequences.

Alas, ’tis  not sufficient to crouch in convenience in the shadow of

Feigned oblivion, nor with malcontent retreat, because the trajectory of the tirade

Or the constancy  of the atrocious acts  presently steer away from your course.

Nay, it is of utmost import to stand forcefully against it when encountered

And join in firm collaborative manner to rid from our existence, the scourge,

Be it as jocular jest or unadulterated abuse, for the absolute good of all.

Lest it, permeate the entirety of relations and none escape the clutches, and

All are consumed within the vortex and held forever hostage of its villainous intent.

Bullying is not a joke.

Cherish The Times

Cherish each of the moments you live

And live to cherish the moments lived.

For it is but a short time given to all, within which

To embrace the gift in all its dimensions,

And make the best of the precious opportunity.

Rather than squander it in the hopelessness

Of despair and self-doubt, nay don ye the vest of

Steadfast courage and resolve undeterred to

Triumph and soar with the eternal winds of hope

Towards the promise of the fullness of life.

Therefore, my friend, minimize regret . . .

Love life, live free, be kind, and  live well.

Dreams Magnified

The span of life is not boundless . . .

Therefore, with all determination

Pursue your dreams, and resolve to climb

The mount Everest of your dreams.

Apart No More

Father, I close my eyes and there you are

Ever so real…

Eyes still closed, I reach out towards you

And I can touch you …

You smile, and I smile back as I cherish every moment,

Not wanting to let go, not wanting to open my eyes

But in time, eyes open,  and no longer can I hold you

In the confluence of the subconscious and memories.

Though time has flown by, ironically, it has  stood still

For the anguish, remains harshly acute and the loss irreparable

As on that awful day, alas, we bid the dreaded farewell.

Yet, I cling  unto the faith of the great salvation

That when all time here shall of certain cease, and in

Everlasting triumph over death, free of sorrow’s pain

We actually reunite, at last, in the heavenly realm

It will be forever and to be parted no more, amen.

Cherish Living

Cherish the living of each moment, before it

Dissipates within the elements of life…

For time, like a mirage fast fades steadily,

Evaporating as vapours into the mystic

Sphere of existence, while yet transforming

Into the elusive and abides no longer tangible.

But, yet when reflections court nostalgia

Those moments assume the poignancy

Of the present past, although not physical

Sufficiently powerful to cause revival of

The previous emotions accompanying

Certain times past in their original form.

Thus, as that which is gone has not the ability to

Attain the perceptible nature of its bygone era,

While it is present, earnestly treasure its value, to

Aid, not only the nurturing of the present moments

But the stimulating nature of the past and hope of the future.

Justice For Trayvon

Should not have been as elusive as it has become

How can lady justice rest easy in the realization

That a young boy with the apparent promise

To live too, and likewise stand his ground to

Defend his precious life and the right to walk

Boldly to his father’s abode in the land of the free,

Such freedom, previously denied by shackles and ships,

Was gunned down before the prime of his short life…

With no remedy forthcoming for his cold body.

Yet, his choice of garment becomes a negative focal point,

And though racial connotations seem tragically minimized

They loom large in the quest for justice for more than the dead

For alas, justice for Trayvon is indeed justice for all.

Lest we all someday are subject to dreadfully wrong assumptions

Causing the fabric of society to disintegrate to the detriment of all.

Shoot us not merely because of the skin …

Stand Steadfast

Though the winds of life may billow hard

And hurricane force winds appear fierce,

Determined to deter you from your course.

Take a moment or moments needed to conjure

From within the depths of the tenacity of  thy spirit

The strength required to face the adversity and

To renew your resilience and stand steadfast.

Though it may be difficult, you have that which is

Within you to emerge, not conquered, but stronger.

Liberty’s Vision

For the chance to be that which I have in me …

To be unique in the expression of that which is endowed to each

Is the quest inherently innate to all that journey through the mystic.

The unbridled chance to embark upon a course unencumbered by inimical

Restraints of prejudice, colonization, and domination of whatever description.

The independence to embrace the birthright of freedom as responsible

Compass in the navigation of fair possibilities  available within the realm.

Still fully, understanding that liberty itself preserves the right, not privilege,

Of all, not some, to be and be free, without bondage’s imposition by others,

To exercise that which is inalienable, and embrace race, gender and creed,

While recognizing in the community for all people, certain agreed upon

Unifying and equitable principles are within the scheme that empowers one

Thus guaranteeing potential’s hope in full measure, yet assuring the dignity of all.

Change Confronted

Change is the steady pulse of human existence

For without  a doubt, it interjects itself

Unfailing into the course and scheme of life

Thus with the armour of this knowledge, be prepared

To confront the aspect of change should it appear

Even if its essence would take more time to conquer.

Be of good courage.

Diary of Enikan

So today, considering the accumulation of time translating into my age, I decided to sit and ponder about life… And figure out where next, and why. But then my contemplation, as would sometimes evolve from the best intentions, took a detour and centered squarely upon my youth and what my first recollection was. Probably that was where I was destined to explore, maybe it was not. Nonetheless, I found myself on that intriguing journey and embraced it. How early in life could I recall anything about my existence and what impact did the event have on the course and the next chapters of my journey. Oddly, as I ventured deep into this self-imposed exercise, to my elation, I was comforted by the retrospective view, not because all the unfolding scenes were of pleasant description but because the challenge forced me to inquire deep into the labyrinth of the mind and the recesses of time to interestingly extract from apparent conscious oblivion, that which was powerfully present once but now embedded in the past.

How time fades the past into the forgotten, only to be retrieved somewhat by deliberate measure. Undeterred, I continued down each nostalgic lane and was gratified that the fog of memory parted sufficiently to reveal the crossroads of possible recollection and the impossible to retrieve. I lingered at that juncture in that early decade, made acquaintance again with my young self and marveled at what my life entailed at that time. Oh, how blissful the carefree days of early youth. The cryptic irony being, I did not appreciate the idyllic nature of life as it was then, as much as I appreciate it now.

Well, let me pause with the present introspection, and resume it soon.
