Yet, we turn aside and ignore, the pervasive and awful signs,
Strewn amid the societal fabric, of the callous oppression
Of others in camouflage in plain sight as bullying . . .
In whatever form it rears its despicable countenance, whether within the
Seemingly innocent corridors of schools where children should carefree learn,
In the workplace where one seeks advancing livelihood in earnest regard,
On the roads, where errors in judgement cause volcanic eruptions of sometimes
Fatal rage, through the media where the appearance of some is so often
Mercilessly ridiculed with triviality . . . be it for sex, gender, persuasion, height,
Skin colour, weight, ethnicity, accent or whatever poorly contrived excuse.
These acts, in essence are a blight on our community of civil humanity, for they,
Assume outright dastardly brutality, often with dire and desperate consequences.
Alas, ’tis not sufficient to crouch in convenience in the shadow of
Feigned oblivion, nor with malcontent retreat, because the trajectory of the tirade
Or the constancy of the atrocious acts presently steer away from your course.
Nay, it is of utmost import to stand forcefully against it when encountered
And join in firm collaborative manner to rid from our existence, the scourge,
Be it as jocular jest or unadulterated abuse, for the absolute good of all.
Lest it, permeate the entirety of relations and none escape the clutches, and
All are consumed within the vortex and held forever hostage of its villainous intent.
Bullying is not a joke.
